About Us
Capital for Children is a philanthropic and professional networking organization of leaders in private equity and related industries that invests in nonprofits serving children, youth, and young adults in the Washington, DC region. Through a combination of financial support and members’ participation on boards, Capital for Children forms relationships with our nonprofit partners and helps strengthen their capacity and impact. We leverage the expertise of our members and provide guidance in such areas as finance, governance, and strategic planning.
Our philanthropic activities are guided by our belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed. We invest in nonprofits that provide resources, opportunities, and support to help children, youth and young adults improve their academic performance, develop to their full potential, achieve self-sufficiency, and thrive.
Since its founding in 2007, Capital for Children has made grants totaling more than $1.8M to 13 nonprofit organizations. Our nonprofit partners teach skills to help students achieve academic success; provide out-of-school time arts education and sports programs; connect youth with trusted adults and their larger community; and provide access to higher education, career pathways, and job and career-readiness.
